Permanent redaction: what it is and what it is for

Why covering text with a black rectangle is not enough to truly hide it.

Redacting a document means permanently removing sensitive information. Drawing a black rectangle over the text does not delete it: the text is still underneath and can be copied or recovered.

True redaction removes the content from the file, not just hides it. Rayo PDF GO replaces the page with an image that already has the covered areas, so the original text no longer exists in that file.

It is also a good idea to check the metadata and the other pages before sharing, because the information may appear elsewhere.

How do I check that the redaction is real?

Try selecting and copying the covered text: if you cannot, it is no longer in the file.
